Meet Nesting Owner, Christina Beringer

Welcome to Nesting, Friend.

When I married my high school sweetheart after almost 11 years of dating I still didn't know if I was ready to be a Momma. Kids are scary and the thought of becoming a Mom was terrifying. But then my sisters starting having babies and my heart exploded with so much love that I didn't even know I was capable of. There's something about that new baby smell that can make a person go crazy. And I went crazy, all right. I caught the baby fever and I caught it HARD. Then, when my husband and I finally decided to start a family, we were blessed with instant results and the idea of changing our minds was never an option. There was no going back!

And as my baby bump grew, the "nesting" began. How did you start nesting when you discovered you were pregnant with your first baby? Did you clean the house like a mad woman or start researching all of the cancer-causing ingredients in everything from disposable diapers to your daily moisturizer and your favorite salad dressing? Did you WebMD yourself every day like I did? Or, take up prenatal yoga and enroll in birthing classes at your local hospital? Did you read every nursing and lactation book you found at the library and buy an encyclopedia of essential oils?

*guilty*

I did all of those things... and more. When I found out my body was carrying a tiny little, teeny little human being, I went a little nuts. I'm a bookworm at heart and I rarely accept anything at face value. I love to read, learn and discover new and better ways of making my life easier and I was bound and determined to make the most out of becoming a MOM.

I did all of these things and a lot of other things I'm embarrassed to admit because I was terrified and I had no idea what the heck I had gotten myself into. And also, my cute little nephews who were responsible for giving me baby fever in the first place started doing weird and mysterious things I didn't understand and my sisters started using words like "colic," and "sleep regression," and "baby probiotics."

And, the more I researched, read, and learned, the more I realized that there were so many other young Moms in my small, northwest Kansas community who were experiencing the exact same anxieties as me, who wanted to do their very best but didn't have any local resources to go to or even a store to buy from.

I got pretty frustrated in my nesting phase and so I began planning my little boutique to help parents just like me.

Nesting is now a comfortable and confidential place for all Mommas and Daddies to go to, to vent their frustrations and learn about cloth diapers and inverted nipples, to see the difference between a structured and a soft baby carrier (and even try some on), to figure out what to do with a recurring case of cradle cap, and to get fitted by a Certified Bra Fitter. At Nesting, we are making it our mission to offer it all. When a Mom or Dad walks into Nesting feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, I want them to leave with a new sense of relief that they are not alone and there are a whole troop of like-minded people willing to lend a helping hand and the best diaper cream out there.
